The Bale Boy's Update

The boys are still growing and getting stronger everyday. They turned 4 months old on November 10th. Well actually, they were born 19 weeks ago but gestationally they are only 13 weeks old. We learned that they will be Preemies through their first two years. Right now, Kole is "gestationally" right on target with his growth and development. Kiefer, however, is a little behind and is more like 10 weeks. We have a Home Health Aid that will be coming to our home weekly to work with Kiefer to help strengthen his development. This is very normal for Preemies and both boys will go back and forth with their developments. Right now Kole is speeding ahead but remember how it was in the beginning. Kiefer was born first and was our "Little Champ" in the hospital. He was the first one to nurse, first one to bottle feed and the first to leave the hospital.

Kole now weighs almost 13 pounds and Kiefer is a little over 10 pounds. However, Kiefer is 2" longer than Kole. Our nicknames for both boys are "Buddha" and "Bean." Kole definitely looks like Craig and will be our linebacker. Kiefer looks like Craig's bother, Todd, and niece, Martina. They are definitely both Bale Boys!! Another reason Kiefer is so much smaller is because he has a serious problem with Acid Reflux. We have been weighing down his formula with rice cereal from the beginning and he is on two different meds to help. It has been recommended that we visit Children's Hospital in Denver for him to get an Upper GI Test and a Complete Feeding Study done to really find out how he eats and digests food. Not to worry - Again, this is very common with Preemies. We just need to find out exactly what is going on so Kiefer can grow and pass up Kole again.

We are having so much fun with these boys. I never thought motherhood could be so much fun. We are taking them on their first trip to Florida for Thanksgiving to visit Grandma and Grandpa Windey. Just got them the cutest bathing suits and we are looking forward to getting them in the pool for sure.

We also hired an Au Pair from France and her name is Morgane. She fits right into our family and we adore her. Now that she is here to help with the boys, I'm back to work full time. However, the boys are just a room away in case I need my "KK" fix.

Never a dull moment at The Bale Household. Come and visit anytime!!
